상호연결

사람들은 더 이상 그들의 주변을 눈여겨 보지 않는다. 그들은 자연을 지나쳐 그들에게 좀 더 중요한 무언가를 향해 걸어간다. 자연미술은 예술가들에게 사람들이 그들 앞에 무엇이 있는지 보게 하고 그것이 무엇을 의미하는지 생각해 보게 하는 작품을 창조할 기회를 준다.

모든 것은 자연 속에서 환경적 전체의 부분으로 서로 연결되어 있다. 내 작품은 이것을 시각적으로 증명할 것이며 그 개념에 확실한 형태를 부여할 것이다. 관람객들은 그렇게 증명된 연결상태를 보고 바라건대 그것에 대해 생각하고 자연과 조금 더 친밀해진 관계를 맺게 되었으면 좋겠다.

“상호연결”은 장소 특정적 조각 설치작품으로 커다란 나무들과, 바위, 쓰러진 나무들이 있는 지역에 설치될 것이다. 여기에 작은 협곡이나 강둑이 있다면 더 이상 바랄 나위가 없겠다. 나무들은 땅에서 올라오는 뿌리 줄기 같은 형상들을 가지게 될 것이다. 그 형상들은 짧은 여행을 하다 흙으로 다시 돌아간다. 바위들도 마찬가지다. 뿌리 줄기 형상은 협곡이나 강둑의 측면에서 나와 반대쪽 땅으로 다시 들어갈 것이다. 몇몇 형상들은 빈 자리를 지니고 있어 작은 묘목이나 그 지역의 꽃을 심을 수 있다. 빈 공간 중 하나는 보다 많은 자연의 관계망을 제기된 생각에 가져다 주는 보금자리에 이상적일 것이다..

Interconnections

People rarely take note of their surroundings anymore. They walk by nature on their way to something more important. Nature art gives the artist the opportunity to create work that will get people to notice what is right in front of them and to think about what it means.

All in nature is connected, part of the environmental whole. My piece will demonstrate this visually, giving solid form to the concept. The viewer will see the demonstrated connections and hopefully will think about it, giving them a closer relationship to nature.

“Interconnections” is a site specific sculptural installation set in an area with large trees, rocks, fallen logs and hopefully a small gorge or riverbed. The trees will have rhizome-like forms emerging from the bases, traveling a short distance away and then entering the earth. The rocks will have the same. Rhizome-like forms will emerge from the side of the gorge or riverbed only to reenter the earth on the other side. Some of these forms will have openings where I can plant another part of the environment, like a small sapling or a local flower. One of these openings would be ideal for a nest as well, bringing more of the natural network into the demonstrated idea.
