<주상절리에 핀 우담바라 Woodambara blooming on columnar joints>

자연의 순환은 자연스러운 것으로 우주 탄생에서 소멸까지 오랜 시간을 통해 이루어졌다. 특히 무기질로 이루어진, 도자 재료는 그 구성이 우주의 생성 근원과 같아서 탄생과 소멸이 반복되고 순환된다.

도자 영역에서 재료는 창작을 태동시키고 더불어 재료의 본질에서 오는 영감은 작품의 조형에 영향을 주기도 한다. 즉, 점력이 있는 재료 자체가 형상을 꾸며 주기도 하고 이를 더 발전시켜 자연물의 일부를 재현시키기도 한다.

본 작품은 엄청난 온도인 용암이 지표 밖으로 표출되어 급격히 식는 과정에서 육각 결정질인 주상절리로 되었다가 또다시, 오랜 시간이 지나면서 분쇄되어 다시 흙으로 소환되어 맨틀의 엄청난 온도에 녹았다가 새로운 에너지로 인해 지표로 표출되어 다시 육각 주상절리가 되어가는 자연현상을 모티브로 한다. 

The natural cycle has naturally occurred over a long period from the birth to the extinction of the universe. Especially in the realm of ceramics, materials composed of minerals, the composition mimics the origin of the universe, undergoing repeated cycles of birth, destruction, and circulation.

In the field of ceramics, materials not only inspire creativity but also influence the form of the artwork through their inherent nature. Materials with tension themselves adorn the form and further develop it, sometimes reproducing parts of natural substances.

This work is motivated by the natural phenomenon of hexagonal columnar jointing, where molten lava rapidly cools and solidifies into hexagonal crystals upon reaching the surface, only to be crushed over time, turning into soil and eventually resurfacing due to new energy, once again forming hexagonal columnar jointing.
